Hip
Resurfacing
Resurfacing of the upper part of the thigh
bone (the femoral head) with a metal on metal replacement has been developed over the last
ten years Mr Derek McMinn in Birmingham.
A metal resurfacing of the femoral head, in
conjunction with a metal socket, is used to provide an alternative solution to a total hip
replacement.
Mr Singer started performing hip
resurfacing in June 2001, after visiting Derek McMinn in Birmingham during April 2001.
Since its conception, Mr Singer's
resurfacing clinic has seen a regular through-put of cases.
In the example x-rays below (click the
x-rays to enlarge), a 44 year old male is shown both before and after the hip resurfacing
is performed by Mr Singer.
